It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a squad that has achieved everything.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to possess a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her debut and seven global championships have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

Whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort can be debated.

Many contend the case for championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it was a disappointing period because I feel like my form was missing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the opening delivery and from there the right-hander was underway.

"The possibility to play and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was dismissed her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we are confident we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has become more firm - this triumph following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

But while she afterwards confessed those injuries have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this championship is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as leader.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
